When a party shares data and this data turns out be bad, can that lead to liability?

The answer to this question depends on what has been agreed upon in the agreement between the parties. When one of the parties fails to fulfil its obligation under the agreement, this party commits a breach of contract and will have to pay damages. This compensation will then see to the damages suffered by the other party due to the failure to fulfil its obligations.

The question that often arises here is: what exactly was the obligation under the agreement? To avoid ambiguities in this regard, it is very important to accurately describe the obligations of both parties in the agreement. For example, in the cases where one party acts carelessly and is imprudent with the data, it may also be the case that this party can be held liable on the basis of illegality.
