Everyone in Brussels is busy working on the Commission's proposal of the AI Act. This regulation requires the agreement of both the Council of the European Union and the European Parliament. Both institutions are now working on a wish list of adjustments. The Council is publishing the adjustments in stages, see our article on the AI Act timeline. The parliament collected all amendments at once, 185 in total. Some amendments are a matter of an extra sentence or another word. Others, however, remove entire recitals.

Once both the Council and Parliament have their wish lists complete, representatives from each institution will meet. They will then negotiate the amendments, eventually, the aim is to come to a compromise text to be voted on.
