Who holds the copyright in the case of collaborative AI development?

Until now, AI models are still treated as a type of software and thus the same rules apply as for copyright on software. A joint copyright can arise if multiple people contribute to the development of the model. The exploitation of this copyright requires the consent of all parties. However, employers do in principle have copyright on all the work of their employees. This means that if an AI model is developed in a work context, the employer is the sole copyright holder.
