How can the conditions for API use be defined?

An API (Application Programming Interface) is a software interface that allows two applications to communicate with each other. The conditions for the use of such an API should be laid down contractually. Parties can lay down agreements on the use of API in an agreement. It is very important to pay attention to the user's powers, the supplier's obligations, the purposes for which the data may be used, etc. To avoid problems in the future, it is important to make proper agreements about this beforehand.

The terms of API use are primarily a contractual matter. Whether this takes the form of general terms and conditions or is negotiated between parties is not so important. However, it is important to lay down what the user is and is not allowed to do and what the user can expect from the supplier. How fast may/can the data be requested? How much data may be retrieved? What may it be used for? These kinds of questions are important when parties negotiate the use of an API.
