AI compliance check

How do you determine whether an AI application complies with laws and regulations? Which laws and regulations apply to an AI application at all? BG.legal is going to develop a Proof of Concept (PoC) of an 'AI Compliance Check' for a consortium.

The LegalAIR knowledge platform has gathered a consortium of organisations dealing with data/AI from various perspectives (ethics, data science, cyber security, legal). This consortium has applied for and received a grant from the Eindhoven Metropolitan Region to develop an AI Compliance Check. The ultimate goal is to establish a form of verification and reporting that fosters confidence in both the developer and user of an AI application, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements. This will also take into account the upcoming AI Act.

What are we going to do?

  • Investigate what constitutes as an appropriate assessment to make a statement about the compliance of an AI application.
  • Develop a report that can be provided to the AI developer and/or user after a compliance assessment has been performed.
  • Conduct one or more pilots. This means we will use a concrete algorithm to perform the compliance assessment and observe the resulting report.

What is the timeline?

  • In Q1 of 2023, we will work on developing a compliance assessment and reporting.
  • In Q2 of 2023, we want to run one or more pilots.
  • In Q3 of 2023, based on the experiences and results of the pilots, we want to finalise the PoC of the AI Compliance Check.
