The AI Act
The AI Act has been officially in force in the European Union since August 1, 2024. This legislation aims to promote safe and reliable AI systems and ensure that fundamental rights, safety, and ethical principles are respected by addressing the risks posed by powerful AI models.
The European Commission has prepared a Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) document to provide more clarity on the AI Act. This document includes explanations of the regulations, obligations for AI system providers, and the role of national authorities in monitoring and enforcing the legislation.
The AI Act establishes harmonized rules for the marketing, deployment, and use of high-risk AI systems. The document also contains information about conformity assessment procedures and the requirements for designated bodies responsible for overseeing these systems.
